Lots of potential drama is hinted at but at the end of the day fizzles. Our heroine begins her journey as a submissive at the club with 2 big lies...one to herself and one to everyone at the club. She's in desperate need for money to care for her ailing nana so decides to go 'undercover' to get some salacious, sellable secrets to "out" prominent members of the club to the public at large. That's the lie to everyone else. The lie to herself is that she is just doing this to get secrets....when in reality she really wants to join in. She never actively does anything to get secrets so the 'betrayal' is really in her mind. Our heroine is attracted to an emotionally damaged Dom who likes the rituals of BDSM but is wary of any emotional attachments. The story set up had some fertile ground to grow a deep, emotional and physical connection between these two damaged souls. It was sweet that both the H and h were so perceptive about the good qualities and scars of their partner....and so totally blind to their own good qualities and distancing behaviors. I liked how the story unfolded, sort of. But the end felt rushed, like the author had to finish the story already. Really there is no big finale here where you feel the connection has been made....and the set up for the next book in the series was lame. So this was a disappointing read for me,Tags : Disciplined by the Dom (Club Volare) (Volume 3) [Chloe Cox] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. I truly enjoyed this novel...After going a month long perusing bdsm and spanking erotica I was feeling they were washed out - until I chose to try this by this author. So glad I did. The story line actually had meat- it wasn't just a quick same ol same ol gratuities bdsm short story. I got involved with the characters and really wanted more. Glad the story line fed into the emotional, socio, and physical aspects of relationships both in play and everyday "life." Looking forward to the next one which follows more deeply two other characters firmly introduced and touched upon in this novel. Happy to call it a novel and not a short!
I am so over the "trilogy" format that is really 1.5 books worth of story and the rest is recap and repeat sex that is almost but not quite S&M. So boring.
These books have been truly more of an individual story that weaves in characters from the different books reminding me of Stephen King characters who all reside in the same town so they pop in and out of books. I like this format and appreciate the pace of the stories. I do find the sex scenes uber kinky going beyond what I am comfortable with but I respect the direct and unapologetic approach to it.
The push and pull of these two characters is just amazing. This is another great hit from this series in my option. The fact that both Jake and Catie are so broken is what draws them together. They might not realize it at first but it because of their shared pain that they are driven towards one another. The more they open up to their needs is the way that they open up to one another. Catie is a submissive but not always a good one. She is good a deflecting and pushing buttons but that is the perfect way to get to Jake. Jake sees her brokenness and wants to help her but by being the dom he is this is what helps her. I would recommend this to anyone.
I was a LITTLE confused in the beginning of this book (1st chapter only), but then it took off. As always... I LOVE a 'true love story' without the cheating hero. I fell in love with Jake and thought that he and Catie were just perfect for each other. This was not my favorite Club Volare book, however it was pretty good! My favorite was 'Sold to the Sheikh'.
My favorite line in the whole book.... "Everybody makes mistakes. I still love you.". Gosh... I loved Jake!
I'm looking forward to hearing about Roman and Lola soon... that should be interesting knowing that they are both dominants... I'm sure that Lola will find that she is truly submissive... I could see Roman breaking her down!
Bottom line... Pretty good book... worth the read!
This is a good, quick read--not quite as risqué as the previous two books but the story was more developed. Jake thought he couldn't love or feel. A tragedy in his past coupled with some parental neglect helped build very high walls around his heart and soul. Carrie helped to tear his walls down and find love together.
I really enjoy this series, although they really only touch the surface of most relationships. I always root for the right people to find love together, they are happy books.
I look forward to the next book, bringing two people together that have been a part of each of the prior books. Roman and Lola!
Just finished and heading strait to Marrying the Master. I have had a great time with all 3 of the books in the Club Volare series, hang the housework, chores or anything else that might think to get in the way. All 3 books have been so very different. They've all had their own flavor, taste, atmosphere. I found that refreshing. Most series books change main characters but the feeling stays pretty much the same, not so here. Disciplined by the Dom has an entirely different feeling, flavor from Sold to the Sheikh and Tied to the Tycoon. I have met several folks just like Jake and Catie so relating to them was easy
Comment watch for the phrase " and in and of itself", not usually found in this genre (been thru almost 200 books so far) but nice to see it here
Talk later - have a great day
Book 3 in the volare series is absolutely delicious,5 stars for this little gem .Jacob(Jake) Jayson is a dom at club volare avoiding collaring a sub. What happens to a man who has only had tragedy and pain his entire life, closing away his heart he wants absolutely no commitments or entanglements.I love you but I have deceived you? That is the predicament Catie Roberts finds herself in...having no choice after her father runs away with her money leaving her to care for her ailing grandmother.... but to write an expose on club volare would provide a financial windfall. Catie has now the love and support of her Dom, Jake know Catie is hiding a secret..Can these to people find away to stay together forever or does fate have another lesson for them to learn...This is a must-read for you the hopeless romantic. Can't wait for the next book!!!
